What I'm reading: An August Book Report

Summer ended for us last week. It is back to routines and schedules, which I LOVE. I've really soaked up some great fiction books this summer. I am slowly adding a few more non-fiction reads to my list as the fall moves along. I have a board of books I want to read here and check out this board for more great book ideas!

I am linking up to the Modern Mrs. Darcy. Check out her post for other great ideas!

On to my summer reads!

I am a big Liane Moriarty fan. Her books are entertaining and full of twists and turns. Three Wishes tells the story of adult triplet sisters. Their relationship is complicated and full of drama. This book chronicles their thirty-third year. It is full of loss, surprise, conflict, and family. I found myself gasping and laughing out-loud a few times. It is one of Moriarty's more lighthearted books for sure.

I found this book through The Summer Reading Guide. I never watched Veronica Mars when it was a show on tv. I really didn't know what to expect, but I really enjoyed this book. I love a good mystery book and this did not disappoint. Fast paced and full of twists and turns, I instantly fell in love with Veronica's character. Now I want to find the show and watch it.

I went through this book with all my Influence Network gals. I'm not much of a devotional girl. I prefer opening up my bible, reading, and journaling. Sarah's book is so much more than a devotional. It is one part devotional and one part workbook. She encourages you to journal in your own notebook each day to process the scripture. Sarah walks through a purposeful study of Psalm 145. Personally, I was really moved and challenged by this book. If you are looking for a fresh devotional this fall, I highly recommend it!

We are huge Brene Brown fans in our house. Last year we read Daring Greatly and I immediately put I Thought It Was Just Me on hold at the library. I just now got it! I can't believe I am going to type this , but I almost like this book better than Daring Greatly and I LOVED Daring Greatly. I Thought It Was Just Me really defines what shame is. It clarified a lot of things for me personally. Brown really talks in depth about what specific areas of shame we get caught up in and how to build what she calls "shame resistance." I want to re-read this book every year!

Coming up next month:

I am reading my first every sci-fi book and loving it. What is happening to me?

Reading this and underlining EVERYTHING.

This book came out this week and I cannot wait to read. I love Jen.

What are you reading?
