HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN DIY LEAF LEATHER EARRINGS WITHOUT A CUTTING MACHINE
I love making leather earrings. I started writing leather earring tutorials with my Cricut Explore a few years ago. Leather earrings are so fun to wear and super easy to make.
I’ve gotten many requests from readers who don’t have cutting machines. So many of you have tried cutting earrings by hand. You can cut leather earrings by hand but it does take some time and patience.
Lately, I’ve making leather earrings without a cutting machine OR cutting by hand. I’ve found so many great, high-quality leather cutouts on Etsy!
In fact, these leather earrings only cost a few dollars to make and are so cute! It’s a win-win.

LEATHER CUT OUTS IN A LEAF DESIGN
I love getting all my leather cutout shapes from Mission Leather Supply. The quality is great and the prices can’t be beaten! For this tutorial, I used the large size in snowflake and rose gold.
More and More Etsy shops are now carrying leather cut outs. If you are looking for a different color or a patterned leather, a simple Etsy search will give you more options.
This an awesome and economical option for making leather earrings without an expensive cutting machine!
I have this simple nickel-free set from Amazon. I love this set because of the different metal finishes.
I used jump rings to make my earrings longer. This is my preference. You don’t have to use jump rings at all!
I know I say this all the time, but I love my leather punch. It is so easy to use and gives you control over where you want to place a hole in your earrings. I have an old punch from my local craft store but this one similar to what I use and has great ratings on Amazon.
HOW TO ASSEMBLE YOUR OWN DIY LEAF LEATHER EARRINGS
STEP 1 CUT A HOLE IN YOUR LEAF
Using your leather punch, make a hole in the top of your earring. I like to use the smallest size on my leather punch. I recommend trying to center the hole as much as you possibly can.
You could go about this 2 ways:
Use a ruler to measure and mark the halfway point of your earring. Lightly mark the halfway point with a pencil on the back of your earring. Punch a hole in your earring.
Another option would be to pinch your earring in half, making sure each side is equal. This gives you a halfway point that is centered!
STEP 2 ATTACH YOUR EARRING HOOK AND JUMP RING
If you have never attached jump rings or earring hooks before, it does take a little practice. It isn’t hard. It just takes patience and a few attempts to get it right.
I like to use both my needle nose pliers and my round plier to attach jump rings and earring hooks.
Using your needle nose pliers, gently separate your jump ring and slip it through your earring hole. Using your pliers, gently push the ring back together and make sure it is secure on your earring.
Next, open the bottom of your earring hook. Slip it through your jump ring and secure it with your pliers.
Repeat this for the other earring!
You did it! You have cute, stylish and fun earrings. Go make more! Tell us what you made! We’d love to know.
