CREATE YOUR OWN TEARDROP LEATHER EARRINGS WITH OUR FREE SVG TEMPLATE
I’ve got a really fun project for you. I love making leather earrings with my Cricut Explore. I made my first pair a few years ago. I wrote a tutorial on my blog. You can see my original DIY teardrop leather earring tutorial here.
So many of you have commented or emailed me about that original post. You all love making leather earrings! So I created more tutorials! Be sure to check out my fold faux leather earrings, circle leather earrings, geometric earrings, and these amazing Anthropologie inspired earrings.
I made all of these designs with my Cricut Explore Air!
My designs typically use free and paid for shapes in Cricut Design Space but I wanted to give you all more. So I’ve created my own free SVG for the leather teardrop earring.
I used this SVG to create a faux leather cork pair of earrings. I love them!
They are lightweight, incredibly easy to create and make an instant statement to any outfit. You can get my teardrop SVG for free at the bottom of this post.

Cricut Machine. I have a Cricut Explore Air.
Faux Leather Shimmer Cork. For this tutorial, I used faux shimmer cork leather from this shop.
NOTE: You may also use Cricut Genuine Leather, Faux Leather, OR other genuine leather of your choice ( I love this shop). If you have never cut faux leather or genuine leather on your Cricut before be sure to catch up on my previous posts. I talk about how to cut Cricut Faux leather here. I show a tutorial about how to cut genuine leather here. If you are using Cricut leather, be sure to follow the instructions on the package!!
Cricut Mat - For the faux shimmer cork I used a strong grip mat
Cricut Cutting Blade - I used a deep cut blade to cut the faux shimmer cork.
HOW TO MAKE TEARDROP LEATHER EARRINGS USING MY FREE SVG TEMPLATE
STEP 1 DOWNLOAD MY SVG /PNG FILE
Download my SVG file to your computer. You can use my free DIY teardrop leather earring templates inside my free resource library. You get the password for it at the end of this page!
STEP 2 UPLOAD AND EDIT THE SVG FILE TO CRICUT DESIGN SPACE
This is what the teardrop leather earring SVG looks like after you have uploaded in Cricut Design Space.
If you need help uploaded images into Cricut Design Space, I wrote a tutorial here.
Next, you’ll need to size your earrings. Click on your teardrop shape.
In the upper middle of your screen, you’ll see “size”. This is where you can make your teardrop bigger or smaller. I have size recommendations below, but I prefer bigger earrings!
I made my earrings 3” long and 2.144” wide.
I recommend the following sizes for your earrings:
Small: 2” Long
Medium: 2.5” Long
Large: 3.0” Long
Last, you’ll want to duplicate your earrings so you have 2 earrings to cut. To do this you simply click anywhere on your earring. On the upper right side of your screen click “Duplicate”.
You now have 2 earrings! Your design should look like this.
STEP 3 CUT YOUR LEATHER
For this example, I used faux shimmer leather cork on a strong grip mat and with a deep cut blade. NOTE: I set my machine to shimmer leather setting on my Cricut machine.
STEP 4 PUNCH HOLES IN YOUR LEATHER EARRINGS
My SVG designs do not include precut holes. I prefer to cut holes in my earrings using my leather punch. It gives me more control over where I want the hole to be. Also, I just love my leather punch.
I use the smallest setting to make holes in my earrings.
You can use a ruler to make sure you punch your hole in the exact center Or you can wing it like I do and hope for the best!
STEP 5 ATTACH YOUR EARRING HOOKS
You are almost done! Open up your earring hook with your jewelry pliers. I prefer the flat-nosed pliers for this!
Thread your hook through your earring hole and clamp your hook back together.
Repeat on the other earring.
