I have been wanting to make this angled rectangle earring for some time. Honestly, it took me a while to design this cut file. Nothing looked right so I’ve been chipping away at this design and until I finally got it right. Whew!
This leather earring would be a great beginner earring if you’ve never made earrings on your Cricut Maker. We made our earrings with Cricut Genuine Leather. It is a simple look with a big style! We will take you through it step by step.

HOW TO MAKE ANGLED RECTANGLE LEATHER EARRINGS USING OUR FREE CUT FILE
STEP 1 DOWNLOAD THE CUT FILE
Download my rectangle cut file from my resource library. You can get access to my resource library at the bottom of this post. My resource library is full of cut files you can use on your Cricut Maker or Cricut Explore Air 2.
STEP 2 UPLOAD THE CUT FILE TO CRICUT DESIGN SPACE
Upload the rectangle cut file into Cricut Design Space. If you have never uploaded a file into Cricut Design Space, you can check out my tutorial here.
You can upload the rectangle file for FREE and then cut. It is really easy to do once you get the hang of it. Feel free to reach out to me or comment below if you have any questions or problems!
Once your file is uploaded your screen should look like this.
Notice, our rectangle file is already sized for you. This earring is 0.8” wide and 2.5” long. Feel free to adjust this size to your preference if you wish.
STEP 3 CUT YOUR LEATHER
Place your Cricut Genuine Leather face down on a Strong Grip mat. Use a brayer to ensure the leather has adhered to your mat.
To cut this image be sure to click “MIRROR” before you cut. This is important because your leather is face down and you want the earring to be longest toward your face and shortest toward your ear.
To get this look, you will need to “Mirror” the image.
To mirror, simply click the button we highlighted in the image above. When the button is green (just like in the image above), mirroring is on! Easy.
Select, the leather you are using. In this tutorial, we used Cricut Genuine Leather so we made sure this type of leather is selected.
Be sure to load the deep cut blade in your machine.
Cut your leather.
Once your leather is cut, remove your leather earrings from your mat.
STEP 4 PUNCH HOLES INTO THE LEATHER EARRINGS
The way I like this earring to hang is by having the long end at your chin with the shorter end working up towards your ear. See below.
With your leather earring punch, make a hole in the middle of one earring. An easy trick to make sure your punch is in the middle is to fold your earring in half and punch in the middle. Or you could wing it! It is up to you.
I find a leather punch gives you more control. My punch has several different sizes of holes. I always set my dial on the smallest hole when making leather earrings
Once your earring is punched, it should look like the picture below!
STEP 5 ATTACH THE EARRING HOOKS TO YOUR EARRINGS
You are almost done! Last step!
Open up your earring hook with your jewelry pliers. I prefer the flat nose pliers to open the hook.
Thread your open hook through your earring and clamp your hook back together again. I use both pliers to make sure my hook won’t fall out.
Repeat on the other earring.
