I’m so excited to show you how to make your own leather earrings without a cutting machine! I started making my own leather earrings with my Cricut a few years ago. It is still one of my favorite DIY projects.

Leather cutouts.

Many Etsy shops are offering leather cut outs. These cutouts make fantastic earrings!

I made my earrings with the circle cut out shapes, but you could easily do this tutorial with teardrop, feather, or arch leather cut outs!

Leather Cutouts from Mission Leather Supply

In my opinion, Mission Leather Supply has the best leather cut outs. For my earrings, I bought the large size Circle in Mustard and Latte.

I’ve noticed more Etsy shops are starting to sell leather cut out shapes. A simple Etsy search will give you more options and styles.

This is a fantastic option for making your own leather earrings at a fraction of the cost!

Earring Hooks

I have this simple set from Amazon. I like this set because it comes in different metal finishes and it is nickel free.

Leather punch

I love my leather punch! It is easy to use and give you control over where you want your holes to be in your earrings. I bought my years ago, but here is a similar one on Amazon.

A set of Jewelry Pliers

A good set of jewelry pliers will help you assemble your earrings.

HOW TO ASSEMBLE YOUR OWN LEATHER EARRINGS

STEP 1 CUT A HOLE IN YOUR LEATHER EARRINGS

Using your leather punch, create a hole in the top of your earrings. Due to the cutout shape in your earring, I recommend making your hole in the center of your earring.

You can go about this 2 ways:

Simply fold your earring in half and punch your hold at the crease of your earring.

Or get a ruler and measure the center of your earring with a light pencil mark.

I used the smallest setting on my leather punch to create holes in my earrings.

STEP 2 ATTACH THE EARRING HOOK TO YOUR EARRING

If you have never attached hooks before, it does take a little practice. It is not hard, but give your self a minute to figure it out. I use both the long needle nose pliers and the round needle nosed pliers to attach earring hooks.

The bottom of your hook will open. Slip it through your hole on the earring and tighten your hook back up with your jewelry pliers.

You did it! Wasn’t that fun (and cheap)!

The sky is the limit on how many more you can make! Good luck!
