I am always on the look-out for simple, meaningful gifts. Handmade gifts are a great way to celebrate the holidays (and beyond). These days, Pinterest is full of cute and meaningful handmade gifts.
I am really into making hats right now. I am working on a fresh stack of handmade hats for our family. I want to have a variety of hats available everyone can wear. For those busy mornings when you can't find that ONE shoe, at least I know we have warm hats ready to go!
I spent some time this fall searching for just the right patterns to make. For me, sifting through patterns is always the hard part. I want a pattern that is easy to make and modern. I look for patterns I would love to wear all winter long.
As I have made these patterns, I've realized these hats would make fun gifts or beautiful stocking stuffers. You could easily whip up a few of these during a Netflix marathon for hostess gifts or something fun for a friend.
Check out my top three hat patterns I am loving right now for this winter.
THE FAIR ISLE HAT
I'm new to knitting. I am self-taught via Youtube. This pattern is my first hat i have ever knitted. It worked up like a dream. I am in love you guys. I can't wait to make it in different color combinations! I am dreaming about another hat in mustard and cream.
You can purchase the Northmoor Fair Isle pattern here.
All you need to know is the basic knit and purl stitch. Knitting in the round in not too complicated. I watched this video a few times and was ready to go. No turning back now. I think knitting with chunky yarn is a great way to learn knitting. It is super forgiving and easy to handle.
You can buy this hat already made if you want! Check out Peppermint Pine Shop. A perfect gift for a friend or add it your hat collection this winter.
THE CROCHET PUFF STITCH
I started following the Hook Nook on Instagram. I instantly fell in love with her patterns. Her style is fantastic and her patterns are beautiful.
The crochet puff stitch beanie caught my eye. I love puff stitch work. If you have never done this particular stitch, don't worry. It is really easy to learn! She gives a quick tutorial in the pattern.
What I love most about this pattern is how versatile it is. You can use a medium weight (4) yarn or whip it up with a bulky yarn. The possibilities are endless.
This pattern was easy to make and a dream to wear! I can't wait to make more. Grab your crochet puff stitch beanie here!
Want to purchase something already made? The Hook Nook has ready made items available too. Check out her shop.
THE LION COWL
As soon as I saw this hooded cowl pattern pop in my feed, I knew I needed to buy it. Two of Wands shop has the cutest things for kids. You can browse for hours!
She has this lion pattern as well as a fox, bear, kitten, and so much more! Purchase 3 or more in a bundle and get a great discount.
These patterns call for some knitting and crocheting. They are not hard, but the most complicated patterns out of the three listed here. Grab some youtube tutorials along the way if you need.
You can see more of Two of Wands products and her fabulous shops here.
