Let's be honest, making school lunches can be a drag. Multiply the work by 2, 3 or 4 kids and I really don't want to do the work! But for some of us, our budgets don't have the room for hot lunch for ALL our people.
So at our house, we are on a mission to create fast, easy, delicious lunches your kids will LOVE and you can prepare in 5 minutes or less with ingredients from Aldi. BAM!
hot dog in a crescent + cheese crackers + fresh fruit
Take a tube of crescent rolls, roll up a hot dog in the middle and bake as directed on the can. We used turkey hot dogs for our lunches. We paired this with a cheese cracker and fresh fruit.
Bean Burrito + Tortilla Chips + Veggie + Salsa
We buy frozen bean burritos from Aldi. Our kids love them, but if you prefer homemade this recipe is amazing. They freeze well too. We paired this will a fresh veggie, tortilla chips, and salsa. We love the organic and peach salsa from Aldi. SO good.
Whole Wheat Toast topped with nut butter, banana, and a drizzle of honey + corn chips + veggie
Toast a piece of whole wheat toast, top with nut butter (Aldi has peanut butter and almond butter), half a banana, and a drizzle of honey. We paired this with some corn chips and fresh veggie. A super easy, filling, lunch.
Ham and Cheese Paninii + applesauce + fig newton
We were gifted a used panini maker a few years back and although I was adamant that we DID NOT need it, we use it all the time now. If you don't have one, a waffle maker would work in a pinch!
Plug in your panini maker or waffle maker to heat it up. Slice a loaf of french bread and place ham and cheese in it. You can also fill your panini with pesto, mayo, or mustard. Place your sandwich in panini maker until the cheese is melted. Wrap in foil and place in lunch container. We paired this with applesauce and fig newton!
We want our kids to have delicious lunches that don't take too much time to make. Your older kids can make many of these lunches themselves. We modify portions based on ages and appetites so feel free to change things to suit your tribe!
We believe a good lunch that is on budget should not take HOURS to make. Check out our other Aldi lunch ideas here and be sure to let us know what your favorite Aldi lunch choices are at your house!
