CREATE YOUR OWN FOLDED LEATHER, JOANNA GAINES INSPIRED, EARRINGS WITH OUR FREE SVG TEMPLATE
I’m excited to share this project with you! A few years ago, I shared how to make folded faux leather earrings inspired by Joanna Gaines. You can see that original post here.
So many of you have made those earrings (WOOT!) with your Cricut but I wanted to make sure everyone with a cutting machine could make a pair so I created an SVG AND PNG file for FREE. The good news is you can download this file and use it on whatever machine you have!
This earring is so fun to make and easy to put together. They are lightweight and make a fun statement to any outfit. You can get this cut file for free inside my resource library.

HOW TO MAKE FOLDED FAUX LEATHER EARRINGS USING MY FREE SVG TEMPLATE
STEP 1 DOWNLOAD MY SVG/PNG FILE
Download my SVG file to your computer. You can get access to this SVG file and other free SVG files inside my free resource library.
STEP 2 UPLOAD AND EDIT THE SVG FILE TO CRICUT DESIGN SPACE
If you have never uploaded a file into Cricut Design Space, don’t worry! It’s easy. I wrote a step by step tutorial here.
Next, you’ll want to rotate your shape until the point is facing down. You can do that by clicking on the blue circle in the upper right-hand side of your image.
Once your image is rotated, you are ready to size your earrings!
Click on your image. In the upper middle of your screen, you’ll see “size”. This is where you can make your earrings bigger or smaller. I have the size recommendations below!
SMALL 1.5” Width x 2.5” Height
LARGE 2.0” Width x 3.0” Height
The earrings I made here are small.
TIP: In between the height and width is a lock. Click the lock to unlock it. You can customize sizes when it is unlocked.
Last, you will want to duplicate your earrings so you have 2 earrings to cut. To do this you simply click anywhere on your earring. In the upper right-hand side of your screen click “Duplicate".
STEP 3 CUT YOUR LEATHER
For this example, I used faux leather on a standard grip mat with a fine point blade. Note: I set my machine to a faux leather setting on my Cricut Maker.
STEP 4 PUNCH HOLES IN YOUR EARRINGS
My SVG designs do not include precut holes. I prefer to cut a hole in my earrings using a leather punch. I love my leather punch! It is a great craft tool. I use it all the time.
I use the smallest setting to make holes in my earrings.
To ensure your earrings are folded, fold your earring in half making sure that the top side is facing up.
At the peak of the fold in your earring, punch a hole. You can see in the picture where I cut. If you cut back towards the fold, your earring won’t fold.
STEP 5 ATTACH YOUR EARRING HOOKS + JUMP RING
Next, attach your jump ring. Using your jewelry pliers, thread your jump ring through your punched hole. Your earring should fold. Press your jump ring back together with your jewelry pliers.
Take your earring hook and open it up with your jewelry pliers. I prefer the flat-nosed pliers for this!
Thread your hook through your earring hole and clamp you hook back together.
Repeat steps for the other earring.
