Vacations are my favorite thing. It doesn't matter if it's a little road trip or a hours on a plane, we love to get away!
Our family rule is that every vacation needs a GREAT book. Some of us listen to books, some of us read on a Kindle, and others are "old school" with an actual book. It doesn't matter HOW you read book in our family, but you always find us with a good book (or 10) in tow.
I have rules about what kind of books I read on vacation. I don't want anything too heavy. I don't want to really have to think much when I am reading a book on vacation. I want something light, funny, touching, and engaging. I don't want tragedy but I do want to be drawn into the story right away.
We put together some of our favorite books that are perfect for travel. We have included fiction and nonfiction. Throw them in your bag or buy the audio version before you hit the road on your next trip!

The Lake House
by Kate Morton
I love mystery books. The are my favorite genre of fiction books. Kate Morton's books have great content without excessive violence and sex. I can be over sensitive to some material, so I always appreciate her ability to write an amazing book that won't give me nightmares!
Alice Edevanes youngest brother mysteriously vanishes during a summer party. The case went cold and decades later is accidentally picked up by a young detective, Sadie Sparrow. The novel parallels a similar case Sparrow is working on in London. The book chronicles the Edenvanes family history and is a fascinating look into family dynamics and all the secrets we keep.
