I love old looking barnwood. In my mind, the more distressed the better! I love old looking signs and vintage famhouse finds. So I was thrilled to run across this natural barnwood bundle at my local Hobby Lobby!
For about $20, I was able to make my own barnwood sign for our house. Want to make your own? Here is what you need.
Your trusty glue gun!
My local Hobby Lobby has some great wood letters. They carry painted and unfinished letters in many differnent fonts. If you are looking for a particular typeset or grain of wood letter, try shopping here. They have a great selection.
I am really in love with this natural barnwood bundle. Each bundle comes with 6 boards that measure 28" x 2". They come in varying stains. Each board is different and rustic.
I have seen a few art prints around Pinterest use the words "be brave be strong." I haven't been able to get it out of my mind. I thought that would be a perfect saying for our barnwood sign.
Lay out all your letters first before you glue. Decide on spacing and placement before you glue. You can see that I wasn't concerned about the letters lining up perfectly. I wanted my sign to be imperfect.
If your saying is long, you could nail 2 or 3 boards together to make a bigger sign. Or you could grab a saw and trim your board in half! Do what works for your saying. The options for this project are endless!!
Hello , World!
Grab your hot glue gun and start glueing. I glued each letter on the back and placed it on the wood. I let my sign sit for a few days before handing. The letters are really secure.
That's it!! A simple, barnwood sign unique to your home! This would be great in a kids room or family room. You could use a favorite saying or bible verse or even your family name!
We'd love to hear your ideas of what to put on your barnwood sign! What saying would you use ?
