Are you doing the Modern Mrs. Darcy reading challenge? It is super easy. Pick a book out of each category and read it this year. This board on Pinterest will give you great ideas if you get stuck on what to read! Check it out!
I took a few weeks and really thought about each category. I think I've finally landed on my 12 books. Some categories were REALLY hard for me. A book originally published in another language? I had to google it. A book my mom loves? My mom reads all non-fiction which was really hard to land on something, but I did it!
So here is my list:
A book you've been meaning to read // The War of Art. My husband read this a few months ago and loved it. I can't wait to read through it this month.
A book published this year // Make it happen. I am super excited to read this in the Influence Network book club. I am a long time fan of Lara Casey's power sheets. I can't wait to read her book.
A book in a genre you don't typically read // Brown Eggs and Jam Jars. I am a not a "cookbook girl." I don't use a lot of cookbooks or read them EVER. But I saw the cover of this book and instantly wanted it. I've heard great things about it!
A book from your childhood // Emily of New Moon. My mother and grandmother watched the entire Anne of Green Gables series every year. It was their thing. They loved it I could probably quote the entire movie. I've heard Emily of New Moon is better. I'm excited to find out if that's true.
A book your mom loves // Safe People. Henry Cloud is one of our favorite authors. His book Boundaries was a game changer for me. My mom talks about his books a lot so I knew she'd love this choice. Thanks MOM!
A book that was originally written in a different language // The little prince. I read this book in french in high school. I know that makes me sound all bilingual and all, but trust me - I'm not. I don't remember much french, but I am excited to re-read this in english!
A book "everyone" has read but you // The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. I have heard people talk about this book for years and I've never got around to reading it. I'm ready to see what all the fuss is about!
A book you chose because of the cover // Nesting Place. I have been a long time read of Nesting Place. It is one of my favorite blogs. I love her outlook on home and decor. This cover is amazing and instantly drew me in. I am excited to finally own this book.
A book by a favorite author // One plus One. I fell in love with Jojo Moyes writing last year. Her books instantly draw me in. I can't wait to read this latest book.
A book recommended by someone with great taste // Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet. Many people with great taste have told me about this book. It's time I read it!!!
A book you should of read in high school // The Giver. My daughter and I have plans to read this and watch the movie!
A book that's currently on the bestseller list // Big Little Lies. I am about half way through this book. It is so good. I already put of Liane's other books on hold at the library!
What are you reading this year?
