I love the start of a new year. I spent the first few weeks of January planning out what I really wanted to read this year. For this first time in a long time, I feel like I've really stretched myself in terms of the genre of books I'll be reading. I can really get stuck in a rut when it comes to books so I am really working towards more variety in my reading this year.
SO, here is what I've been reading.
The Happiness of Pursuit. It's true. I love Chris Guillebeau's writing. I find his books super inspirational. In this book, Chris tells the stories of people pursing a passion or what he calls a quest. The message of the book really resonated with me: are we living a life we love? Why not? What is stopping us?
Big Little Lies. This is the second book I've read by Liane Moriarty. I loved her book What Alice Forgot. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it. Big Little Lies did not dissapoint. It was the perfect curl up on a cold day book. I was instantly drawn into this book about a group of Australian moms. It is full of mystery, tragedy, humor, and intrigue.
Start. I have been wanting tor read this book for sometime. I grabbed it the library a few weeks ago. Jon outlines 5 seasons of life : learning, editing, mastering, harvesting, and guiding. He writes in depth about each season throughout the book. I was really encouraged by this book. I am quick to feel like I am failing in many areas of my life, but this book is allowing me to see those failures as not fatal but a learning opportunity. This was a thought provoking read.
The Giver. My oldest and I read through The Giver. We LOVED this book, but we HATED the ending. Anybody else feel this way? We both felt like the book ended in the middle of the story. We are now determined to read the series.
I've also been trying to add more creative books to my reading stack each month. I picked up Cowl Girls and Mollie Makes Embroidery at the library on a whim. I wasn't too impressed with Cowl Girls, but Mollie Makes Embroidery may make an apperence in our creative home library!!!
