Hot cocoa mix has become a staple around our house during the winter months. A few years back, we ditched the store bought cans of cocoa and starting making our own. This homemade version tastes AMAZING. It is so much better than anything you can buy at the store. Plus this dry version is great for little hands to prepare. We have ours next to our Keurig with some marshmallows, straws, candy canes, and kid friendly cups!
Want to make your own hot cocoa mix?
Peppermint Hot Cocoa Mix
makes ALOT. it will go fast. prepare yourself.
4 cups of dry milk powder
2 lb. box of Nesquik
1 16oz bottle of powdered creamer
1 cup of powdered sugar
1 small package of round peppermints candy
Grab a large bowl and pour in the first 5 ingredients. Mix well. Take all the peppermints out of their individual wrappers. You can either crush these in a food processor or put in a large bag and smash with a hammer. Smash your peppermints into small pieces and add to your hot cocoa mixture.
Use about 3 T of hot cocoa mix to one cup of hot water. Mix well. EnJOY!
All these ingredients, except for the Nesquik, you can find at your local Aldi store. This recipe makes a HUGE batch for very little money. I keep a small jar near the Keurig for a quick weeknight dessert or to warm up after a snowball fight! It is the perfect warm weather beverage for your family!
