I taught myself to cross stitch last winter. Honestly, it was an impluse reaction. I saw this etsy shop ( her patterns are great!) and knew I needed to know how to cross stitch. I bought some patterns and by March my husband and I spent spring break learning a new craft!
Not long after that, I knew I wanted to make a cross stitch version of our family. Its the perfect mix of quirky and cute - just my style. Like most cross stitch projects, it is a bit labor instesive. Cross stitch takes time. It is not a quick fix. It is a project you leave by your favorite chair and work on it little by little each week.
I made a pattern using some old graph paper we had around and some help from Martha. These templates are amazing!!
Dig out a recent family portrait, colored pencils, and graph paper. I colored in the graph paper based on our family. I counted the graph paper boxes as I stitched this up on 14 count Aida.
I love how it all turned out. What are your favorite cross stitch patterns?
