April has been a tough month for reading around here. I call these months of the year "the perfect storm". Work is extremely busy and the kids schedule is bananas (hello every school events under the sun!!). My time is limited and the stress level can get a little high. If I am not careful, things can get out of control real quick. I am working on creating open schedules and less deadlines. My sanity comes before my to-do list.
As a result, I didn't get to read as many books as I wanted to. I gave on this book and this book. I didn't enjoy them and quit. I couldn't find any other books that I loved and I didn't have much time to research anymore.
I think it is okay to stop reading books that don't capture me right away. I want to enjoy reading. It is a wonderful hobby for me. It is important that I read things I love. I try not to feel guilty about quitting a book.

Franny and Jim Post are celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary in Spain with family and friends. A time meant for celebration quickly turns into jealousy, lies, and secrets. It is an honest story of family dynamics and the lies we tell others about ourselves.
I threw it in my bag right before spring break and read it by the pool. It is a good pool read! It is a quick read. I'm not a fast reader, but I read this over the course of 3 days.
I am reading Steadfast Love with my Influence Network gals. Steadfast Love is about how God loves us through the tough times. The times in our life when we aren't sure He is really there. Lauren uses a lot of Scripture and personal stories to illustrate her points. This is a book I intentionally read slow. I wanted to really grasp everything she had to say.
I have so many great reads lined up for May! The kids and I are reading some gems and I have some great non-fiction pics to tell you about. Stay tuned.
What about you? What are you reading? What are you NOT reading? Have you gave up on any books lately?
