Glasses are HUGE expense for any family. Even with good health insurance, one pair of glasses can end up costing you $300 or more per pair! It can take a huge chunk out of your budget.
A few years ago, I started experimenting with buying glasses on-line. I was surprised to learn that buying glasses on-line is a BIG money saver. We have saved our family $100 buy purchasing glasses on-line.
I have bought from many retailers throughout the years. Some pairs I have kept and LOVED. Other pairs I sent back immediately.
Here are our family's top picks of glasses online:
BonLook
We love BonLook. These glasses are high on style and quality. If you are looking to make a statement with your glasses, BonLook is for you.
Their turn around time is INCREDIBLE and the quality is the best. I have loved my BonLook glasses. I am currently wearing Dolled Up in Diamond Tortoise.
The price is right for these glasses. They start at around $99 for single vision prescription and work up from there. I have a hefty prescription, so my lenses needed to be thinned out. I ended up paying $140 for mine.
They run great sales all year round, so get on their email list. You won't be disappointed. They have a small but growing men's line that we love and sunglasses too! Check them out here.
Jonas Paul Eyewear
We ordered our son glasses from Jonas Paul Eyewear this fall. We love the home try-on kit. Our kids hate the way some glasses "feel" so we knew we need to "try before we buy." Also, for every pair you purchase, they give a pair of glasses away to a child in need. You can feel good about this purchase.
We love the style of these glasses. My son (10) picked out 3 pairs he loved and within a week, the glasses arrived at our home in a beautiful try-on kit. We picked out the pair we loved, sent the kit home, and ordered our glasses.
I am really impressed with the quality of these glasses. We break everything at our house and these glasses have really held up nice. I'm a fan and at about $100 a pair, you can be too!
Warby Parker
Warby Parker is a one-for-one model. For each pair you buy, they also donate a pair to someone in need.
Warby Parker's style is specific but definitely on trend. They send a home try-on box that includes 5 frames. You keep them for 5 days, pick the frames you love, and send the kit back. You go on-line, order the frames you loved with your prescription and they will mail your new glasses to you.
It is simple and cost effective too. Starting at $95 you can buy glasses that are on-trend and budget friendly. Warby Parker does have brick and mortar stores popping up around the US. Check to see if they have a shop near you!
Zenni Optical
Zenni is the most affordable option. It has glasses and sunglasses for kids and adults alike. You can't try on glasses with this option but with glasses starting at $6.95 (and UP)/pair, you really can't loose.
The quality isn't as high as the other options, but we have loved our Zenni glasses just the same. We have purchased prescription sunglasses as well as everyday glasses. They will run some great sales throughout the year so jump on their email list.
They allow 30 day for returns, so if you don't love your glasses you can send them back!
Buying Glasses on-line can be a bit trial and error. You need to test what you like and know you style. For around $100 you can have quality glasses delivered to your door. It is truly amazing.
If you are unsure about what style looks good on you, go with Warby Parker first. Their try-kit is the best. If high style is your thing, BonLook is for you! If your budget is tight and you just need glasses, Zenni is your place.
