January Reads

I didn't get to read as much as I wanted to this month. With a birthday party and a 6 day vacation, January has flown by!

Check out this post to see what I am planning to read this year.

Simplify Your Life with Kids

I have been wanting to read Simplify Your Life with Kids for a long time. I finally got around to it. It was a FANTASTIC book. It was a little out-dated (kids using walkmans?). All in all, I found her parenting tips timeless. I loved her ideas for simple birthdays and creative gift giving ideas. I was motivated to teach my kids to be able to do more thingsΒ independently. She talks about the value of patience (ahem.......) and urges parents to develp a relationship with their children (love that).

My favorite quote:

"when our creative spirit is active, it affects our whole way of being."

She urges partents to develop long periods of time for kids to be creative. I was really motivated to make sure I continue to keep our schedule free for creativity!

One Bite At A TIME

I also joined Jessica in her virutal book club. We read One Bite at a Time. I am a long-time reader of Tsh's blog. I love her content. I loved this book. After I read through her book, I made myself a simple morning and evening routine. I now have 5 simple things to do when I wake up and when I go to bed. It is really amazing how much better I feel. I am super excited to implement some more of Tsh's great ideas throughout this year.
